DCA / Average Entry Calculator

How the Weighted Average Entry Is Calculated

For each entry, the tool divides the amount invested by its price to estimate quantity. It then divides total invested by total quantity:

Weighted average entry = total invested ÷ total quantity acquired

For example, investing 0 at 0 buys 1 unit, while another 0 at buys 2 units. The combined 0 buys 3 units, giving a weighted average entry of about .67. This differs from simply averaging the two prices, which would incorrectly give .

Average entry does not remove exposure

Adding to a losing position may lower the average entry while increasing total quantity and the dollar loss from a further adverse move. The optional P&L is a simplified price-only estimate and excludes fees, funding, slippage, contract multipliers, and liquidation mechanics. Use the position-size calculator to review a stop-based risk limit before adding exposure. See the disclaimer and privacy notice.
